Politically popular Detroit rapper Eminem came out to endorse presidential hopeful Kamala Harris ‘ campaign on Tuesday before introducing fellow Democratic campaigner, former President Barack Obama, to the crowd.
For most of you to be aware, the city of Detroit and the entire Michigan holds a special place in my heart.” To which Eminem, a rapper who has long attacked the policies of the former US president, said before the election: “And now, going into this election, the lights are on us more than ever.” And I think that people do need to speak out. Presumably, I am encouraging everybody to go out and vote.”
He said people shouldn’t be afraid of facing consequences or of stating an opinion; Harris “believes in a future of this nation where these liberties and so many others shall be preserved and defended.”
The Detroit rapper then led Obama on the dance floor where he began a campaign speech to the rhythm of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” The former president said that he “watched my palms are sweaty,” from the hit song before rapping several lines of the song.
The appearance of Obama and Eminem is done just days before early voting begins across Michigan. Democrats believe that through this event, which also hosted former Lions wide receiver and NFL Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, they will see increased voter turnout.
The performance by voters in Detroit, which has been traditionally Democratic, will again be decisive in influencing who wins the state in November when, together with a few other swing states, Michigan will also decide who becomes the U.S. president and which party gains control of the U.S. Senate. Obama spoke at the rally attended by Democrat Elissa Slotkin, who is in the contest for an open Senate seat with Republican Mike Rogers.
The ObamaEm possessively supports Kamala; Emin supports Obama too
Obama criticized Trump as #NotFitForOffice and among the recent incidents, he highlighted a town hall where Trump decided to entertain the audience for about 40 minutes dancing with the song to various songs instead of answering voters’ questions.
I wish I had recorded Obama’s response to Reid; she said, “If your grandpa was acting like this you’d be worried.” This is somebody who wants absolute authority with no accountability whatsoever or Oversight whatsoever From anyone. Nobody wants to know what a senile Trump looks like with no ropes to restrict him. America is ready to move to the next chapter.
That’s right, Trump has entered the Detroit mix himself, joining the local rapper Trick Trick in a rally last week. Trick earlier than this had worked with Eminem on the song “Welcome 2 Detroit.”
Obama and other speakers Tuesday which included many top Democratic leaders in the state precipitated comments that Trump made in Detroit earlier this month where he referred to it as a “developing” city.
It’s going to be like, the whole country will be — you asked me for the truth? It will be like Detroit, said Trump before the members of the Detroit Economic Club. They complained, saying things like: “If she is your president soon the whole country will transform into Detroit.”
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who addressed the public before Eminem and Obama, fired back on Tuesday.
You all heard what he said about this beautiful city. He called Detroit a failure and a mess, proving he ain’t firing on all cylinders,” Whitmer said. Probably he doesn’t have the slightest idea of what he was talking about. And you know what I think? He should never mention Detroit because that is where he is from and should never have come to Texas.”
